Diegetic : It is sound that the characters can hear as well as the audience, and usually implies a reaction from the character. Also called "literal sound" or "actual sound"
Non-Diegetic : It is sounds which is represented as coming from a source outside the story space, ie. its source is neither visible on the screen, nor has been implied to be present in the action. Also called "non-literal sound" or "commentary sound"
Ambient : Sound surrounding area or environment.
SFX : Sound Effects (Special Effects).
Mood : Sound which sets the mood.
Tone : A sound that with reference to its quality, pitch and strength.
Genre : A category of music, marked by their style such as Hip Hop or Rock and many others
Theme Music : Music that introduces, develops and ends the film.
Voiceover : Known as voice of God and Narration.
Music Score : Music written for the film/atmosphere.
Synchronous Sound : Sound that matches with the actions.
Asynchronous Sound : Sound that originates from outside.
Contrapuntal : Sound that does not match the visuals, using Clockwork Orange attack scene.
Silence : No noise or sound at all.
Selective Sound : Used to emphasize key sound elements within a sequence.
Sound Bridge : Use of sound to help transition between scenes.
